Here's What Happened in September!

School is in Session!

At the beginning of the month, Annie and Judson began homeschooling with Melissa and I (Mostly Melissa…). We felt that it was important this year to ease their transition as much as possible. Between the move to a new place and very different place and the COVID restrictions, homeschooling this year just made sense for our family. I think we’d like to plug them into school next year but for now, homeschooling has been awesome! Melissa has done a great job organizing and teaching and I’ve taken up the responsibilities of teaching PE and Church History! It’s really been fun for everyone!

Saturated

The Church of Eleven22 (COE22), one of our partner churches and who we are working through some awesome church planting training with, had their yearly Saturated is an event held every year with the goal of the entire church being saturated with the Gospel. This year, we heard from Matt Carter from Sagemont Church in Houston, JD Greear, Pastor of the Summit Church and current SBC President, Doug Logan who is the Director of the Diversity Initiative and the co-director of Church in Hard Places with Acts 29, and Bishop Vaughn McLaughlin who is the Founder and Senior Pastor of The Potters House International Ministries in Jacksonville, FL. Each night, they have incredible worship and preaching. It’s sort of like an old school revival meets summer camp.

On Saturday morning of Saturated, I was invited to take part in a panel discussion discussing our calling to church planting. You can watch it by clicking here!

Signed on an Apartment!!!!!

One of the most asked questions we get is, “Do you have a place to live?” Well, we can officially now say, YES!

Just this week we were able to sign on a two-bedroom 800 sq ft apartment in the neighborhood of Sunnyside!! Because of the mandatory quarantine coming from Florida, we weren’t able to visit the city and look at places. Jonathan Nason, the Pastor of New Hope Church in Queens visited on our behalf and FaceTimed us so we could see it. We’re so grateful for his willingness to check it out for us!

A Little about our new neighborhood, Sunnyside!

We couldn’t be more excited to be moving to this apartment in this incredible community!

Out of the 91 neighborhoods in Queens, Sunnyside is one of the smallest; but what it lacks in size, it doubles down on community and culture. As you emerge from the 7 train and look to your right, you will see some of the best views of the Manhattan skyline. Quiet tree-lined streets and pre-war charm provide the perfect mix of suburban feel and city life.

If you take a walk down Greenpoint, 47th and 48th Avenues and you’ll experience cultural delicacies from Peru to Nepal and everything in between.

Sunnyside is a great place to plant a church because of its density and diversity. We believe that God has positioned us in Sunnyside for the purpose of reaching people from all over the world who have moved to Sunnyside and maintain relationships with family and friends from all over the world.

Currently, there are no English-speaking Evangelical churches in Sunnyside south of Queens BLVD! We have a unique opportunity to establish a Gospel-Centered church that trains and develops missionaries, pastors, small-group leaders, and church planters and to be sent to the nations from Sunnyside!

Please pray for our church planting work in Sunnyside Queens!
