May 2020 Update!!
Hey Friends and Family!
I apologize for the week delay in our May update. Melissa and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary this week and we got out of town for a few days to celebrate. This was a great time for us as a couple as we enjoyed some much needed rest and relaxation at the beach!
Personal Update
May was a big month for our family!
We celebrated Judson’s 6th birthday! Even though we had to stay close to home, we had a great time celebrating as a family!
Jordan completed training and has been able to work full-time as a driver for Amazon. This job has been a huge blessing for us as it provides steady income as well as health insurance for our family!
Melissa is continuing to sell Norwex cleaning products. She was the number 2 ranked salesperson in her group of over 100 sales associates! We're so grateful for all who have booked parties and have purchased from her these past few weeks!
Ministry Update
Jordan was able to preach twice this past month. You can watch his message at FBC Orange Park by clicking here and watch his message from Ocean Park Baptist Church by clicking here.
Personally, this has been a sabbatical type season where we have been able to grow and learn without the daily pressure of leading in a ministry. Both Melissa and I have been able to read multiple books and we have grown immensely in this time!
We were concerned that because of the Coronavirus and its affect on the economy, we’d struggle with fundraising. On the contrary, God has opened some incredible doors for us in our finances! We have had numerous partners jump on with us this month including Houston’s First Baptist Church! Jordan served for four years as a Student Minister at Houston’s First and we are so excited about partnering with them! In addition to Houston’s First, we have had 8 families commit to partnering with us by making financial contributions! We also have been in conversations with some other awesome churches that we are hoping to solidify partnerships with in the coming months. Thank you for praying for God’s provision for us in this area!
New York City Update
As you know, NYC has been through it these past several months. If you’ve watched the news, you’ve probably seen a lot of bad news from the city: filled hospitals, empty streets, and racial riots. This could create anxiety for us as we plan to move to the city. Instead, we see how God is at work in the midst of the struggle. If we focus on the negativity and are driven by fear, we’ll never fully step into the blessing of joining God on His mission.
While you’ve undoubtedly seen negative news, know that there are some incredible things happening in the city!
Churches have stepped in to serve alongside local businesses to provide food to residents
Churches have partnered with local coffee shops to provide coffee for first responders
Churches have led in the conversation about racial reconciliation and have partnered to peacefully pray and march in the city.
We see that God is moving and we couldn’t be more excited about joining Him in this work! While you may not be at a place where you can physically join us, we would love for you to be a prayer partner with us and commit to joining usin this work spiritually.
Would you pray in these ways this month?
Pray that we would have wisdom and discernment as to when is the proper time for us to relocate to the city? We want to be in NYC so badly right now. We want to serve in the communities, begin building relationships, partner with churches, and share the Gospel with people who are distant from God. While the finances may be available to us to make a move, we don’t want to get ahead of God’s timing.
Pray that while we are still in Jacksonville, we will be able to use this time wisely. That spiritually, we would be prepared to embrace and walk in obedience to the calling God has placed on our lives. Pray that we will read the best books for the time we have here and that we would be divinely connected with new relationships that can best help God’s mission to be accomplished through us.
Please pray for the financial commitments to continue. Pray that we can have conversations with individuals and churches whom God has already been working on to contribute to a work in New York City. Pray that they would be quick to commit to supporting us and that they would be true partners in the mission through prayer, participation, provision, and promotion.
Finally, would you pray that our hearts would be eager to listen to and obey the voice of God? In this time, we trust that God is always at work around us and want to be sensitive to the fact that He desires to use us right where we’re at for the time being. Pray we would not be so focused on what’s to come that we miss opportunities that are right in front of us.
Thank you so much for your partnership! We couldn’t do this without your encouragement, prayers, and support.
Many blessings,
Jordan
